The following upcoming events this week are as follows:

Wednesday night sees the second of our “Monthly Recap’s”. These are provided for those of you who have missed out on any of the past sermon series messages that we’ve preached on over the past month.

This is also an opportunity to ask questions and get further clarification on any points and/or issues that have been raised that you want some certainty on…

This week Perry will be putting the finishing touches to his series looking at “D.A.R.E. to be Transformed” in which we looked at Discerning God’s Will, Adopting God’s Ways, renewing a Right Spirit within us and Engaging with the Mission.

On Friday evening we have the second of our AMPED – Bible Buzz Quizzes that was enjoyed by all that participated last month. This month we’ll be looking at the story of Ruth.

And don’t forget that this weekend the Brisbane City Temple Band is visiting Christchurch. Click on the image for more info on when and where they will be playing over the weekend.

Also of note is that we will be blessed on Sunday morning as a quartet from the band will be performing a few numbers for us at the morning worship service…

Today Annette & I finally got to have a full day off – well not quite! As we still had to sort out a few bits and pieces that cropped up.

I think next week we’re going to turn the mobile phones off and leave the answer machine to pick up any calls that come through at home.

But we did get to enjoy lunch out together as a couple for a change which was very nice. Even if it did mean that I had to do a spot of grocery shopping in the process.

Got a bit of paperwork this week to follow-up on and I really need to start putting together a comprehensive future planning document that outlines the vision for the Corps over the next few years as we prepare for the future developments that are going to be on our doorstep in a few years.

As the words of the Chris Tomlin’s song ‘God of this City’ say there are greater things yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city. And Christchurch is going to be rebuilt, it is going to be stronger and God is going to do amazing things through his people here in this place. That is the Hope we need to hold on to that is the Hope thate we live for…

On Saturday @ 9:00am we will be meeting @ the church hall so we can head to ‘Southern Sevens’ in Timaru. This is an annual sporting event held by the Southern Division and is an awesome opportunity to meet young people from around the South Island.

You’ll need to bring sports get up i.e. shorts, tracksuit, sneakers etc. As well as a packed lunch, snacks & plenty of bottled water. Also, it’ll pay to bring some pocket monies for additional snacks on the way home…

We’ll need to be in Timaru by 11:30 for registrations & we kick off @ about noon after finding out the draw. At this stage I have it on good authority that we’ll be playing 2 games of each sporting code (touch rugby, football, netball & volleyball) and if we make it through to the finals who knows – can’t wait it is going to be a blast!

On the way home we’ll be stopping in Ashburton for some refreshments @ ‘Macca’s’ hope they have plenty of burgers ready to go…

So get your stuff together & let’s have some fun…

Tomorrow (Wednesday 7 March) sees us hosting the second of our Prayer & Fasting gatherings from 6pm. So bring a plate of food to share as we break the fast together.

The theme for the day is the upcoming Mission Review & Plan which we’ll be having on the 18th of March. As you fast and pray throughout the day do so with a special emphasis on this plan, for confirmation for the leadership team and DHQ team that this is the plan for our future and not just some idle wants and dreams. But that it is something that we as a Corps can do to make a kingdom difference in this community. That through the completion of the goals we will be able to ‘see people find and follow Jesus and engage in mission’.
