The Yarrow Street Family Store is starting to take shape. Now that everything is starting to fall into place the anticipation is growing and the excitement is building. Over the past few weeks the stocks have started arriving, the new clothing racks have arrived and quite a few of the clothing rails have been relocated from the old store, the carpet for the office and staffroom has been laid, the external signage has gone up and the painting has just about been completed. The changing rooms are beginning to come together and the entrance way is starting to look inviting.
There has been a fair few people involved in the set-up and I’d like to make special mention of Dave and Ringa who have done most of the redecorating and Gordon who has also put some hours in to help. Also a huge thanks to Anthea, Steve and Gordon along with Christine and all those at Tay Street who have been packing down and moving stuff across to the new store. And I’d also like to thank the youth group for the hours that they have put into getting the shop ready, another couple of weeks and we’ll get back in to doing some study, games and activities. I’d also like to thank all those that have donated materials, supplies and equipment to make the store look good and feel great.
Last night we had a group of cubs come as part of their community service to stack books, puzzles and shelves of toys as well as hang a heap of clothing on rails in preparation for us opening the doors next Monday for our first days trading. This is the second time that they have helped out, the first involved a fair bit of paint, most of which ended up on the walls – Your help has been greatfully appreciated.
We will be having an official opening a week later on the 22nd of August (possibly incorporating a late night trading evening) so that we can iron out any issues and also ensure that all the staff have familiarised themselves with the new store as it is at least three times bigger than the one they’ve been used to.
