In Paul’s request for prayer from the church of Thessalonica he says to them; “May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5 (New Living Translation)
Over the past couple of months we have been looking at the question “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” throughout my sermon series. (Transcripts of which you can view / download here.)
We looked at the many aspects of the ‘Fruit’ of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. Recognizing the importance of Love, even love itself as we understand it, has been distorted by the society and culture in which we live. So much so, that our understanding of the word is limited.
Throughout the sermon series it was my prayer that through our focus on the theme love; we would gain a fuller understanding of, and expression of the Love of God that comes through knowing Christ and what He has done for each and every one of us.
You see, if we are to mature in our faith and become more like Him, then we must start exhibiting love in all our dealings with others and love others as He loved us!
So, as we approach this Easter Season and have the time (due to the isolation / lock-down that many of us are facing) I hope and pray that you will spend some time contemplating the Love of God. Because as we saw when answering the question ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It? – Absolutely Everything!’
Here are some songs that I hope will help in that process:
The Love of God – Mercy Me
Above All – Michael W. Smith
Cornerstone – Hillsong
Majesty (Here I Am) – Delirious
