J. B. Phillips wrote “The reason why the gospel was Good News when it first burst upon the world was simply that men had realized that God is love. The revelation of character provided by Christ Himself showed one thing, that God is by nature Love and that He loves mankind.

It should be obvious that if there is to be a fresh intake of love, it can only come from God Himself, and that it can only be received by those who are willing to be open to God and ready to cooperate with His purpose. For this cleansing and reinvigorating process, we must have deliberate and planned periods of quiet communion with God.

Fear will not be driven from our hearts by resolution only, but by the willing reception of the very Spirit of Love.

A lot of this must, I think, be done in private, but a lot more must be done in Christian fellowship.

To whatever Church we belong we must meet together…

(New Testament Christianity)

In these times of isolation, where we can’t physically meet together in one place, we are truly blessed in this day and age that we can continue to meet online with one another. Utilising social media and messaging apps we can still feel connected and meet together, regardless where in the world we are.

Here @ The Salvation Army Wellington City as we continue our “Journey to the Cross” and contemplate the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus had to endure for our sakes, the ultimate expression of God’s Love. I hope and pray that you continue to encourage one another; meeting together online, contacting each other by using the phone, or even writing a letter. And also consider how we can each spur one another toward love and good deeds.
