This Sunday 23 August we conclude our Self Denial Appeal looking at the overarching theme, ‘Love Beyond’.
We are again blessed to have Cadets Ben & Jesse Willis preach and lead (respectively) as part of their officership training with us.
Ben will be preaching from 1 John 4:19-21 exploring the key idea that ‘from our overflowing love for God, we are called to love each other‘.
For many here in Wellington City this is a recurring theme that we have seen over the course of the past year, in a variety of scriptures as we continue investigating what it means to live out our Christian lives in community. Loving one another, caring for one another, helping one another, supporting, encouraging and building each other up etc.
This forms the backbone of Jesus’ command to us in John 13:34-35 where it says;
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
(New Living Translation)
Sometimes this is easier said than done – But it is something that as Christians we all need to strive to achieve in our lives – As people in our spheres of influence will be watching and judging us by our words and our actions.
Due to the current Covid-19 Alert Level restrictions if you are immunocompromised or over the age of 65, as per the Ministry of Health guidelines for Alert Level 2, we encourage you to remain at home. If you are feeling unwell or sick in any way do not put yourselves or others at risk and seek medical advice from your local GP or Health Line.
Gatherings are limited to 100 – However, we are still holding our in-house Sunday morning meeting as per normal @ 10:30am.
So, if you are in the Inner City of Wellington on Sunday morning
Why not come and join us @ 10:30am at 92 Vivian Street, Wellington
(Limited parking is available on site via 6 Jessie Street)
For those of you that are unable to attend our Sunday morning service the Salvation Online team has been working on producing a service. This is available for viewing at 10am on The Salvation Army NZFTS Territory page and www.salvationonline.org.nz
The service will include Salvationists from around New Zealand and features music from corps that have been streaming recently. It’s going to be a great service, and a way for us to feel unified and connected in this season.
Alternatively you can view our ‘Church Online’ Service @ 6pm (NZ Time), links will be posted on our Wellington City Corps and Wellington Citadel Band Facebook pages and on this site.
Please share the links far and wide so that we can continue reaching out with God’s love to those that need it, as we endeavour to ‘bring life and hope to the Inner City of Wellington’ and beyond.
This Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to ‘reimagine’ what church looks like; at a local level, within the wider New Zealand picture, and also in this ‘online’ space worldwide. This brings with it many challenges and plenty of opportunities, as we seek to be ‘His hands and feet‘ in a world that desperately needs to see the “Life and Hope” that can come through the Message of Christ’s love.

It is our intention that through our musical offerings and the sharing of God’s word for us in these days, that you would journey with us as we embark on making our services even more accessible in today’s world, and that you would be blessed by them and share that blessing with others.
May God bless you each 🙂
