This week we continue our sermon series looking at the Christmas Nativity Story.

We read in the biblical accounts of the Christmas story that many of the key people experienced the emotional highs and lows that this season can bring.

In many ways I’m sure their expectations were dashed one way or another and there are many lessons that we can learn from the build up  towards Advent as we endeavour to live God-honouring lives in this day and age.

Through it all, God is wanting to remind us of His provision and His love, mercy and grace.

Today at 6pm (NZ Time) we are hosting ‘Church Online’ as a facebook live video event via our Wellington City Corps and Wellington Citadel Band pages. (Link below also).

Our weekly Sunday meetings feature both the Wellington Citadel Band and the Wellington City Worship Team.

We pray that you will be blessed as we minister in these unprecedented days not only for our local community who are unable to join us in person but also to enable others around the world that currently unable to worship in their settings.

May God bless you each as you head into the coming week 🙂

This Sunday, 13 December we continue our sermon series looking at the build up towards Christmas, the advent story as part of our Sunday morning 10:30am Worship Service.

At the beginning of the year I’m sure we all had a number of things that we were looking forward to accomplishing that we have been unable to do. Many of our plans and expectations have been disrupted and dashed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately in many parts of the world the pandemic is still having an affect on countless lives, and we are not immune to the disruption here in New Zealand. For a large part we have been largely spared from the traumatic effects of it – but it has still had a devastating effect for many.

As we approach this Christmas there is still the fear for some that Christmas plans etc. could be disrupted at the last minute and leave us feeling discouraged, disappointed and upset. Sometimes our expectations are dashed – Emotions that can have a detrimental affect on us if we let them fester and absorb us.

As we read the biblical accounts of some of the people in the Christmas story they too more than likely experienced the highs and lows that this season can bring.

There are many lessons that we can learn from the Christmas accounts as we endeavour to live God-honouring lives in this day and age. But through it all, God is wanting to remind us of His provision and His love, mercy and grace.

So, if you are in the Inner City of Wellington on Sunday morning, why not come and join us @ 10:30am at 92 Vivian Street, Wellington – Limited parking is available on site via 6 Jessie Street.

For those of you that are unable to attend for whatever reason or are wanting to check us out online you can view our ‘Church Online’ Service @ 6pm (NZ Time).

Links will be posted on our Wellington City Corps and Wellington Citadel Band Facebook pages and on this site on Sunday afternoon.

Please share these far and wide amongst your friends, family, social media contacts etc. so that we can continue reaching out with God’s love to those that may need it in these uncertain times, as we endeavour to ‘bring life and hope to the Inner City of Wellington’ and beyond.

This Sunday from 6pm we are also holding a Christmas Carol Sing-a-long So if you are in the Inner City of Wellington why not come along for an entertaining evening singing some of the well known Christmas Carols that we all know and love, as well as some that are possibly not as well known.

We are also blessed to have our Divisional Leader Major Brenda Luscombe share a Christmas Devotional Message with us 🙂

May God continue to bless and encourage you as we each endeavour to live out our Christian Faith in these challenging times that we find ourselves in.

As many of you are aware every now and again I come across a blog entry, article, podcast or book that appeals to me and I endeavour to share that information for others, so that they can understand a little of what is going on in my world; be it ministry, health, or even sport (which I haven’t done in a while).

In the past few weeks I have come across a blog called Chronic Mom which was written to let sick people with chronic illnesses or diseases know that their are other people out there just like them, and that laughter can help, which is something that the movie Patch Adams espouses.

The article; What is brain fog? Everything you need to know and more appealed as it is something that in the past 12-18 months has increasingly frustrated me – sometimes simple words escape me and it can be hugely embarrassing while in the middle of a conversation.

At other times I’m about to do stuff and all of a sudden I’m like; ‘What am I doing here?‘ I have know idea what I was about to do, let alone why I am in a particular place. Thankfully this is only a momentary lapse of reason and within seconds the mind kicks into gear – But it can be hugely off putting.

Read all about ‘brain fog’, ‘fibro fog’, ‘chemo brain’ and gain a better understanding of some of the struggles that people with chronic illness, chronic diseases, chronic pain, and or the side effects of treatment that some people are going through.

We all take so much for granted and sometimes the best thing that we can do is show a bit more kindness and compassion, especially if you come across people that may be a tad forgetful, or can’t remember certain things.
