This Sunday in many Corps around the Territory we conclude the Self Denial Appeal*.
The theme for this year has been ‘A Gift from the Heart’ and each week through inspirational testimonies and stunning imagery, we’ve been challenged to see how people with so little can still give generously.
It is hoped that through the weekly videos you’ve been encouraged to consider the blessings that you’ve received from God, and how you can use them to bless others.
This week as Salvationists consider what they can give sacrificially and deny themselves going forward into the coming year at the Self Denial Altar Service they will be watching the below video from the Kenya West Territory cadets.
Captain Isaac Masini penned the song, especially for the 2023 Self Denial Appeal. It is written and sung in his native tongue of Swahili and speaks to the wonders and blessings of God, and how we give back to him with cheerful hearts.
Maybe you too would like to consider what you can offer to a hurting world through the Self Denial Appeal as you watch the video. If you feel lead to contribute to the appeal you can donate by clicking here or the button below.
* The Self Denial Appeal was started in 1886 when General William Booth called Salvationists around the world to give sacrificially and deny themselves by giving One Weeks Salary On Missionary Sunday (the Altar Service).
This was so that through their actions and faith they could offer God’s grace and love to a hurting world and show to others what a lifestyle of generosity looked like in practice.
