Due to some ongoing technical difficulties in putting our weekly hosted “church online” service up for a 5pm (NZ Time) start time, we have made the unfortunate decision to move it to a 6pm (NZ start time) – We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

I hope and pray that you will bear with us, as we continue to develop and hone our skills, abilities and overall presentation of these services. In a global sense we are indeed challenging times and churches and Corps are having to morph, change, adapt and pivot to new ways of presenting services online almost daily, if not weekly. So as to ensure that we have a good quality representation of God’s message of “Hope and Life” to our communities and the world.

The Salvation Army Wellington City has a unique style of worship that is greatly appreciated by many all over the world. We are truly blessed to have a sizable Brass Band (The Wellington Citadel Band) that is well known throughout Japan and Australia due to a number of tours over the years.

We also have a worship music team that has been able to work alongside the band playing contemporary worship  music and traditional music that appeals to all ages.

Again we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you that have taken the time to connect with us online and we have been blown away by the response. Last weeks service has seen over 900 views and reached people right around the world, including people up and down the country of New Zealand.

We are aware that their are people within our own congregation that are yet to return fully to in-house meetings, due to health issues, or who live in rest homes, that are really appreciative of the efforts that have gone in to putting these services online. People are even inviting friends and people they live in community with to view our ‘church online’ services with them as they can’t make it into the inner-city of Wellington or live further afield.

Some people who have been hurt by the church in the past are also reconnecting with their faith and the church, our Corps due to the opportunities that ‘church online’ presents us.

And we’re aware of quite a number of people who would not normally attend our services, now have the opportunity to experience and view, watch and listen to what we do.

This is to ascertain if they like our musical offering and if the sharing of the Message appeals to them at the present time and we are seeing people engage with us online and also mention this to members of our teams within the community.

Covid-19 has forced us to ‘reimagine’ what church looks like both at a local level and within the wider New Zealand picture – But also in this ‘online’ space worldwide. This brings with it many challenges, and plenty of opportunities, as we seek to be ‘His hands and feet’ in a world that desperately needs to see the “Life and Hope” that can come through the Message of Christ.

It is our intention that through our musical offerings and the sharing of God’s word for us in this day, that you would continue to journey with us as we embark on making our services even more accessible in today’s world, and that you would be blessed by them and share that blessing with others.

This Sunday we will be concluding our ‘Doing Life Together‘ sermon series that Perry started at the beginning of June.

Exploring the overall theme of God’s Design for the Local Church, or as is the case in our setting the Corps.

Taking Acts 2:42-47 as a starting point, then drilling down into what it means to truly love others as we would love ourselves, as referenced in John 13:34-35. Answering the question: ‘How we can be Doing Life Together within our community?

The link to the Facebook Live Event will be posted on our Wellington City Corps and Wellington Citadel Band Facebook pages and a post will also feature on this blog linking you to the hosted live stream event on facebook and then uploaded to Youtube for others to watch at their leisure mid next week.

So please join us and share the link far and wide for this week’s ‘Church Online’ service starting at 6pm (NZ Time) this Sunday.

As always if you are in the Inner City of Wellington on Sunday morning

Why not come and join us @ 10:30am at 92 Vivian Street, Wellington

(Limited parking is available on site via 6 Jessie Street)

We pray that as we continue to minister in this way that people will drawn to God and will want to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Also, that you would want to join us in ‘doing life together’ wherever you are, as we endeavour to ‘bring life and hope to the Inner City of Wellington’ and beyond.

May God bless you each 🙂
